Translators without Borders (TWB)
Translators without Borders translates more than ten million words per year for non-profit organisations by working with thousands of volunteer translators worldwide. TWB relies on generous supporters who give time, technology and expertise for it become the world’s largest community of humanitarian and development volunteer language professionals. TransNational is proud to be both a financial donor and volunteer of service provision supporting TWB efforts in crisis regions and crisis response around the world.
New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI)
NZSTI is the industry’s peak body of T&I practitioners. NZSTI represents over 700 qualified practitioners and holds regular professional development sessions and an annual conference which draws keynote speakers from around the world. Our Managing Director and National Coordinator holds full membership in Translation and Affiliate in Interpreting (Japanese) since 2006. He acted as the President of the Canterbury branch for 3 years and was a sitting member on the National Council for 7 years.
New Zealand Society of Linguists (NZSL)
Individual membership. NZSL is a leading professional association for linguists working in Aotearoa. The society is comprised of linguists working in a wide range of specialisations, including a focus on English, Te Reo Māori and New Zealand Sign Language, in addition to Pacific and other languages. The society holds an annual conference attended by New Zealand and international scholars giving papers on all aspects in the field. Members must abide by a code of ethics.
European Society of Translation Studies (EST)
Corporate membership. Founded in Vienna in 1992, the European Society for Translation Studies is an international network which aims to support the community of translation and interpreting students and scholars worldwide. EST has members in 46 countries. The society holds congresses and members must abide by a code of ethics. The society also has available a range of publications, online translation resources, and a diverse events calendar.
National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT)
Corporate membership. NAJIT was founded in 1978 as a non-profit professional association dedicated to promoting quality services in the fields of interpreting and translation. NAJIT promotes professional standards of practice for all interpreters and translators through advocacy, training and education; and to achieve wider recognition, acceptance and respect for the essential work we do. The NAJIT code of ethics are available online.
Australasian Association of Language Companies (AALC)
TransNational held corporate membership for over 2 years and attended events in Australia until August 2018. We respectfully withdrew due to low representation and governance in New Zealand, but still participate in professional development webinars as a non-member.
