Where it all started…
With multiple degrees in education, languages and applied linguistics, the company’s directors worked as full-time professional translators and interpreters overseas for nearly a decade before establishing TransNational – Te Whakawhiti Whenua (‘joining lands and people’).
They worked across multiple sectors and industries from global banking organisations, SONY multimedia, and marketing agencies; to translating and interpreting at national museums, for heads of state and international dignitaries.
By maintaining a focus on standards, quality and a high level of customer service, the company has 12 locations nationwide becoming the largest and most diversified translation and interpreting network in New Zealand. A literal one-stop-shop of language expertise and service provision from translation and layout to video editing and commercial print.
TransNational applies ISO 17100 Translation Service requirements as licenced by Standards New Zealand. We are the only service in New Zealand to be ISO 18841 and ISO 13611 Interpreting Service accredited. This provides a quality assurance standard not met anywhere else in the country.

That’s why all staff undergo an extensive 3-month in-house training programme irrespective of their background. We want them to have the right information for any request, be consistent in delivery and build up a detailed knowledge of our clients’ business in order to provide the best results. It means we can deliver exactly what you need by offering the best in speed, quality and excellent service.
Our bilingual team are trained to understand and coordinate every aspect of your project. We collaborate with translators, copy editors, interpreters, graphic and web designers, narrators, voice artists, sound technicians and video producers in over 24 languages every day. If you have just one page to translate or an entire script, subtitles for a DVD or need an interpreter operating at the highest level of government, our bilingual staff are there for you to make it happen as smoothly as possible.
