INTERPRETING SERVICES

Face-To-Face Bilingual Professionals

TransNational has the largest network of trained interpreters across 12 locations nationwide. We work at all levels from private clients, businesses and government agencies to provide face-to-face, telephone and the latest in video remote interpreting services with over 300 experienced interpreters in over 24 languages.

Professional interpreters are experienced in Police and legal work, IRD interviews, private healthcare, workplace skills training, international sports events, conferences and presentations, international business meetings, company tours, site visits, and a wide array of private functions. We have provided interpreters to the Prime Ministers Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for over a decade.

Interpreters are booked in advance. The more notice and information you can provide, the better we can select the most suitable interpreter for you. We can travel to your location at cost. We can provide the service beyond regular office hours upon prior arrangement. After-hour rates will apply. If cost is an issue, then telephone interpreting may be the solution for you. Call us for details on 0800 000 339.

TELEPHONE & REMOTE VIDEO INTERPRETING

Bilingual professionals removing the language barrier…

Interpreters are booked in advance. The interpreter will work directly through our call centre or in some instances can be given instructions to call the client direct or join a conference call at a specific time. Telephone and Remote Video interpreting are cost-effective solutions when you do not require someone to be onsite. A 1-hour minimum charge applies. Call us for details on 0800 000 339.

LANGUAGE PROFESSIONALS

Interpreters are professional language experts who ‘facilitate’ communication. The role they play and their field of expertise needs to be clearly outlined with one of our coordinators when making a booking so that the right type of interpreter can be provided for you. We will then do our utmost to match within available parameters. Interpreters can act as ambassadors to support your business endeavours as a language conduit, or abide by a strict code of ethics and complete confidentiality as a ‘linguistic tape recorder’ to meet official requirements. Interpreters can adapt to a range of environments from working in front of the camera for news releases and film launches to completely behind the scenes in a conference sound booth as required. For this reason, we have an extensive pool of over 300 interpreters in order to cover a range of backgrounds from legal and medical to agriculture and the arts.
The majority of interpreters have internationally or nationally recognised qualifications. The majority have a minimum of 4-year’s experience in the industry and belong to a professional body in New Zealand, Australia or the United States. There are minor exceptions where specific (rare) languages and community/migrant groups simply do not have access to recognised training. Therefore, we provide all interpreters supplementary training to vet, select and insure our NZ-based interpreters work in accordance with a professional standard. In government agency work this may include protocols, ethics and procedures guided by the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, The Health and Disability Commission Code of Ethics, The Immigration & Protection Tribunal Code of Ethics and the NZSTI Code of Ethics.

Interpreters are supported on-going by the option to undergo post-engagement debriefing sessions with our project managers and to complete review modules that cover a range of competences and interpreting scenarios.
Interpreters are also encouraged to continue developing their skills and professional development through attendance to conference and training events including those hosted by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI).

SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS

We work exclusively with certified members of the Sign Language Interpreters Association of New Zealand.
SLIANZ recognises New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) as the preferred language of the New Zealand Deaf community and respects the diversity of communication mode and cultural orientation of all consumers of interpreting services.
